upgrade
I read Eisel's comment before leaving for my run early this morning, and I keep thinking back to it.
Eisel is right...I think I probably make my scale too hard. Should I be grading on a curve? Maybe, based on the tough times we have been through in the past few years. I don't want to be that negative person! :)
I have decided to upgrade yesterday's score to an 8.7!

We love you though little Bean!!! I have been striving for a 10 on your scale for years, if you change it now I may never arrive!!!
Hmm. Raising a day rating on the following day? That seems like you will now be evaluating it using a remembered day instead of the actual events as they occur.
It's like Ansel Adams said about color photography and why he preferred black and white. "With color photography, we are introduced to a more potent 'trap of reality,' .... Comparisons are made with memory rather than fact! If the colors do not distress us by obvious falseness or poor aesthetic relationships, we accept [it]..as a record of the subject...No color photograph will convey a truly accurate interpretation of the subject, although one color may be more satisfactory than the others."
So, which is it in your memory, 8.7 or 8.1? Don't lower your standards because of a sister's comments.
By the way, link you may.
crazyuncle - Interesting quote, I like it...and I definitely agree that often our memories of events are more pleasant than the events themselves. In fact, that's something Jay and I have recently discussed regarding vacations!
However, thinking about a sister's comments AND taking into consideration all that *could* be going on in my life, I still think that 8.1 was a bit low for yesterday. If I'm being honest with myself, even if numerous bad or depressing things happened on any given day, the day's ranking probably couldn't dip below a 2 or a 3...I am blessed in *so* many ways that I tend to take for granted more often than not.
But I guess now we could get into an actual "day" ranking vs. a "mood" ranking or even an "events of the day" ranking, which *is* kind of what my post was about...
OOOkay, too much thinking going on now. Suffice it to say, I didn't mean to imply that I was lowering my standards, but that I need to be more thankful for all of the positive things in my life!
Zachary - you're so close to that 10, don't give up now! You should certainly strive for it on a daily basis! :)
I joke, but only because I don't want to get too mushy on here. I hope you know how much I love you and how much you mean to me.
Hey Katie!
Just so you know, I wasn't saying that you were too strick or anything, I was just saying that all of us walkers have a really high standard as to what qualifies for a good day. :) I wasn't doggin' ya or anything like that. (sorry, I guess I've got dogs on the brain!) I love you. You're the best.
Hey girlie,
I know you meant nothing bad by your comment! And I took no offense, but you are right...we do!! (I am assuming I still get included as a Walker!)
I love you, too. Only one month left now!!
:)
I have equestrian. What am I on your scale. Do you give out elevens or should I settle for a four? Is it true that the tire will gain the title in the next two years? You should talk to Zachary and see if you can make a graph on your blog. If I had one it'd be like: Monday-Thursday: 3, Friday: 5, Saturday:8, Sunday:7 and then back to the same lousy three. However, in 2541030 seconds, it'll rise to like a 9.5. It could be a ten but giving out perfect ratings is pretty crazy. Have at least a 6.5 day!
I must say, Larry the Cable guy, while funny, is not my favorite. (I'll take those extra points please)
You need a new post!
Dude, you REALLY need a new post! And you told me to update mine everyday. Shame shame shame.
