JP #2

So apparently if you wish to complete defensive driving more than one time in a year, you have to appear before a judge in court and request special permission.
Yeah, I didn't know that. But now I do.
Luckily, the judge I appeared before was pretty lenient, and granted me permission before I was technically even finished requesting it. One of the court clerks was nice enough to inform me of what to say. He said to be polite and only address her as "your honor". The conversation pretty much went like this:

Judge: "Katie Myers...how are you this morning?"
Bean: "I'm doing well, your honor, how are you?"
Judge: "Ms. Myers it says here you plead no contest to driving 10 miles over the speed limit. Is that right?"
Bean: "Yes, your honor."
Judge: What do you need from me?"
Bean: "I've already done defensive driving once this year, and I would like to request your perm-"
Judge: "Yeah, sure, I can let you do it again!" (As she scribbles something on my file.)
Bean: "Thank you!"
Judge: "Sit over there until my clerk calls you up."

It was nothing like court on TV.
And, I have already completed 7 out of 11 chapters at GetDefensive.com!

I don't really understand about defensive driving. Is it a good thing that you can do it more than once? You can ridicule me if you want to 'cause I don't know about it. I'm glad that I got TCF your honor.

That's kind of funny. I wasn't expecting a "Yeah, sure" from a judge. :) I'm glad it was nice and easy!

Was it like court in Law & Order? Because that is the only thing that comes to mind. And you have file too! I hope we don't have to bail you out of jail. Wow, the baby has an auntie with a record, that's pretty crazy.

Kyle just attended one last week. However, he did not have to go before a judge. Hey, did you get to hear that cool Law and Order music when they called your case? Did your name scroll across a screen as they showed a black and white video of you walking in slow motion?

Yes, but did she have a gavel?

If you keep informing me of these great concerts going on in SA, I may have to move there. Need anything else painted?

I have never been to court, but we may have to go due to this stupid unemployment thing. Hopefully it will go that well for us.

You can do defensive driving school on-line? I did not know that! I did the live-action version, and believe me it had punitive power in itself.
