Spain

Since we both get a 4-day weekend for Labor Day, we've decided to take a vacation. We'll be leaving early Friday morning to go to Menorca . We're stoked, cuz this time we booked it through a travel agency so we're staying at a resort where breakfast and dinner are included, PLUS we get free transportation to/from the airport (which is usually a huge hassle). We'll return late Monday night, as we have to be back to work on Tuesday morning.
Anyway, since we planned this *totally* last minute, I'm kinda freaking out trying to make sure everything is packed and ready. The thing that sucks about traveling in Europe is that if you forget something you can't just run out and buy a new one. I've started the lists (and am, of course, driving my poor husband crazy..I don't know how he still puts up with me)!

oh happy day!

For a monday, today sure was good! It was sunny all day, and really warm (which means about 75* in Britian)! I'm back to working out alone this week, my 5K this morning was peaceful and enjoyable, even though I am still sore from doing lunges on Saturday.
Then, I got to work and found out that we get a 4 day weekend!!! J wants to try to take a vacation. He was looking for good deals at work, but he isn't home yet, so I don't know if he ended up finding anything. It would only be Friday-Monday, but we won't really get any other chances at long weekends, so we really want to find somewhere cool to go.
AND, to make my day even better, I had 3 packages in the mail! 2 are presents that I will be sending out tomorrow, and the last one is my sweatpants from Victoria's Secret that were *supposed* to be backordered untill September....flippin' sweet!!!! :)
No news on where we're going yet. J's betting on the west coast somewhere, but I've got this sinking feeling they're gonna send us to the midwest! Oh well, things can only get better from here, right?

Watched Pirates Of The Carribbean tonight. I love that movie. I saw it once before, but I think it was even better the second time around. Johnny Depp is awesome.

In other news: I have but 34 days of work remaining (possibly 33, if my boss decides to give us a 4-day weekend for Labor Day). This week has been really hectic and I am relieved to have the next 2 days off.

Other than watching Pirates, J and I spent our Friday night at the Commissary (does that make us officially *not* cool?). As always, that was a disappointment. I think they stopped carrying my deodorant. Bummer. Now I have to find a new scent. I hate the ones that smell like aloe or lavender or baby powder or anything too flowery, really. I wound up getting one that boasts of "silk extracts". Hmmm...we'll see how that goes.

**Only accurate if I don't take any leave, which I hope is not the case. I plan to take a few days off to complete my out-processing and get our household goods packed out! After the stress-filled day I put in today, even this seems too long. I don't want to go to work!!
AND, unfortunately, still no word on where we will be moving when we leave.

On a brighter note, we went shopping at Lakenheath yesterday. I got some really cute jeans and 2 new purses! I couldn't decide whether to get the brown purse or the black one, so J bought one of them for me and I bought the other one with my birthday money. I felt really spoiled and guilty for spending that much money on myself...but they sure are cute!!!!

It's Friday!!

And boy, am I glad.
Am I? Why yes, yes I am!

Here's why I love Fridays:
1) The weekend is about to start!
2) I get to wear jeans and flip-flops to work!
3-10) No work for the next 2 days!!

Unfortunately, on this particular Friday the sun is hiding and it is drizzly and cold outside. BUT, my day is going well in spite of the weather! This morning I got to open my birthday cards and presents, and I got a good laugh from most of the cards! (Great drawings, lil brudda!! Did ya use the poster as a guide?)
Then, when I went to the post office on lunch, my new shoes and sandals had arrived!! WHOO-HOO, I just ordered them on Saturday!! I love

not only do they have great prices, but they also ship to APO addresses for FREE!!!! And it only took 6 days (5 business days). That rocks!! I'm gonna have to go running tomorrow just to try out my new asics!

Well, my lunch hour's almost over, so I gotta get back and finish out the work day. Have a great weekend everybody!!

so tired

After struggling to fall asleep, I woke up at 0230 this morning and absolutely could *not* fall back asleep. So I just laid there, until about 0600. Then I started my normal morning routine of working out and getting ready for work.
Including this week, I have 9 weeks left at my job. I know they'll fly by, but right now I feel like they can't possibly go fast enough. I like my job, but I am ready for something different...something in the States!!

good times...

I think if I'm ever doing laundry and our house gets broken into, I'm gonna hide in the dryer. I don't think anyone would look there...

grrrrr....

You know what *isn't* cool? When you spend 2 hours fiddling with the HTML codes for your blog only to republish and see that it didn't work.
Here's what I don't get though...when I PREVIEW the changes I've made, it looks perfect...but then when I PUBLISH and go to actually look at my blog, only a few of the changes have worked. If anyone knows something I don't and would like to help, please, please, please do!!! I'm still kinda ticked about this. Oh well, I guess it's not like I had plans for the afternoon anyway! :)

my exciting life...

I've figured out that if I start dialing a number on the phone, the internet starts to work. So, I started a phone call and then set the phone on the desk while I am using the internet. Soon, my internet connection will quit. Then I'll have to hang up, pretend to make another call, re-connect...well, you get the picture. Broadband in England rocks my world!! :)
I can't wait to be back in the states where we can get DSL or broadband that actually works and everything you buy is priced in US dollars. Oh how I *love* America!!

Yep...internet just quit again. I'll wait until I finish typing to do the phone trick.

So not a lot has been going on here. Tomorrow is J's birthday and his present is backordered. BUT, I am taking the day off work and going to a barbeque at his shop. Should be pretty cool. I'm stoked that I'm not working tomorrow. I had a super slow week and then it all caught up with me today. I came home exhausted.

I went to a spinning class at the gym this morning. The captain of my squadron teaches it and she keeps telling me to come, so I thought I'd give it a try. It was a good workout, but I find it annoying when people bring their military rank/status with them to the gym. It's bad enough at work...I don't need to see it while we work out, too!

Still waiting to find out where we're going in November. The suspense is killing me!! A couple of people in J's shop got their orders...Minot, ND and Kirtland, NM. I was just joking that we'll probably end up at Minot...just when we thought it couldn't get any worse! :)

Air Force

After months of trying to get out of the military early and being denied, we've now signed up to extend for another 10 months. But it's actually a good thing! :)
J's shop is closing down and they are curtailing everyone's assignment. Since our DEROS/DOS (Date of Estimated Return from Overseas/Date Of Separation) were both supposed to be this coming January, they couldn't send us to another base unless we extended. The good news is, since we've been overseas for almost 3 years, our next assignment is guaranteed to be in the CONUS!! We've prayed about it and decided that this is a really good opportunity. This way, when the time comes for his separation, we will already be stateside and have *so* many less headaches to deal with in terms of transitioning to civilian life. I haven't started the official countdown yet, as we don't know the exact date we will be out of here, but we do know it will be in November! Whoo-Hoo!! :) They should cut orders sometime the second half of this month, then we'll know where we're going and when we're going there. We'll only be there for a year, our new DOS is 29 Nov 2006.
